Understanding AIReal Yoga Teacher Trainings & Yoga Alliance Certification

If you’re considering becoming a certified yoga teacher or deepening your training, you’re probably wondering: How does AIReal Yoga align with Yoga Alliance requirements?

You’re not alone this is one of the most common questions we receive. The terms, hours, and certifications can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re trying to find the right training for your path. So let’s break it down.

What Is Yoga Alliance and Why Does It Matter?

The Yoga Alliance is a widely recognized nonprofit that sets minimum standards for yoga teacher trainings. While it does not license or regulate yoga, many studios, retreats, and teaching platforms around the world recognize and respect its certification.

To become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance, you must complete a minimum of 200 hours through a Yoga Alliance-approved school.

AIReal Yoga®: A Recognized Leader in Aerial Yoga Education

AIReal Yoga® is proud to be a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS) and Continuing Education Provider (YACEP). Our trainings are internationally recognized and meet the highest educational standards in both traditional and aerial yoga.

Our founder, Carmen Curtis, created the first-ever 200-hour AIReal Yoga teacher training to be recognized and approved by the Yoga Alliance — making AIReal Yoga the pioneer in Yoga Alliance-recognized aerial yoga certification.

Our Training Programs & How They Count with Yoga Alliance

200-Hour Yoga + AIReal Yoga Teacher Training

  • Outcome: Full Yoga Alliance Certification
  • Counts for: Becoming a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200)
  • What you get: Dual certification in floor-based yoga and AIReal Yoga
  • Format: In-person, online, or hybrid

After completing this training, you are eligible to register with the Yoga Alliance as a 200-hour certified yoga teacher (RYT-200).

50-Hour AIReal Yoga® Teacher Training

  • Outcome: AIReal Yoga Certificate of Completion
  • Counts for continuing Education with Yoga Alliance if you’re already a certified yoga teacher (RYT)
  • Non-RYT participants still receive full AIReal Yoga certification

Other Trainings: AIReal Restore, AIReal Assist, AIReal Handstand

Each of these trainings count as Continuing Education for Yoga Alliance — but only if you are already a certified yoga teacher (RYT). If you are not a certified Yoga Teacher, you still get a certificate of completion from an international recognized brand.

What Counts as Yoga Alliance Continuing Education? AIReal Yoga’s Guide to CE Credits

If you’re a certified yoga teacher, you’re required by Yoga Alliance to complete a certain number of Continuing Education (CE) hours every three years. But many teachers still ask: What counts? And how can I track those hours?

At AIReal Yoga®, we’re here to make continuing education not only simple, but inspiring.

Here’s what counts as Yoga Alliance CE — and how AIReal Yoga can support you every step of the way.

What Is Yoga Alliance CE?

Yoga Alliance requires all RYT-200, RYT-300, and RYT-500 teachers to complete:

  • 30 hours of continuing education every 3 years
  • 10 hours must be contact hours (live, interactive)
  • 20 hours can be non-contact (online, self-paced)

What Counts as Continuing Education with AIReal Yoga?

  • 50-Hour AIReal Yoga Training (counts as 50 CE hours)
  • AIReal Restore, AIReal Assist, and other 50-hour certifications (each = 50 CE hours)
  • Online AIReal Yoga classes through our membership (non-contact CE)
  • In-person classes with Carmen Curtis (contact CE)
  • Retreats, workshops, and immersions

Who Can Count CE Hours?

You must already be a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with the Yoga Alliance. If you are not, these hours still count toward personal growth or studio qualifications — just not for Yoga Alliance CE credit.

Why Choose AIReal Yoga for CE?

  • Carmen Curtis is an E-RYT 500 and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP)
  • You can count any workshops, classes, or trainings led by her for CE — online or in-person
  • You gain real, embodied tools you can bring to your teaching right away

Final Thoughts

Whether you’re brushing up on alignment, learning to teach in a hammock, or attending a floating sound bath — your growth counts. And we’re here to support it.

Log your CE hours and learn with the first Yoga Alliance-recognized AIReal Yoga training in the world.

Don’t be confused by the hype:

Some brands may claim that their 50-hour or short trainings “certify” you with the Yoga Alliance. But here’s the truth:

  • Yoga Alliance only recognizes a 200-hour training (or higher) to become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT)
  • Trainings under 200 hours — including 50-hour programs — are only recognized as Continuing Education for already certified teachers

At AIReal Yoga, we believe in clarity and transparency. Our certifications are real, Yoga Alliance-recognized, and designed to empower your path — whether you’re just starting or continuing to grow.

AIReal Yoga was the first brand to receive Yoga Alliance approval for a full 200-hour training using the hammock — because it is truly rooted in Yoga. We use the hammock as a prop to support, deepen, and refine traditional yoga postures.

Many other aerial fitness or movement brands have attempted to get Yoga Alliance certification for their trainings, but have not been approved. Why? Because they are not rooted in the principles of Yoga. Yoga Alliance recognizes and certifies programs that uphold the integrity, lineage, and philosophy of Yoga — not just fitness in the air.

At AIReal Yoga, we honor the depth of Yoga while integrating the hammock as a functional, therapeutic, and educational tool.
