Inside the 50-hour aerial yoga curriculum
Explore the core study areas below. Select a topic to read more.
Module 1: The Anatomy of Suspension — Spinal Support & Alignment
Explore anatomy and alignment as the hammock changes support and resistance. Practice fabric placement, observe joint stability and range of motion, and choose modifications or grounded alternatives for the student in front of you.
Module 2: Rigging, Safety & Fabric Height Mechanics
Study hammock setup, rigging education, safety, fabric height, and student positioning. Practice choosing the height and placement for a pose, explaining a supported entry, and guiding a controlled return to the floor.
Module 3: Sequencing Floor-to-Air Transitions
Connect familiar yoga postures on the mat with hammock-supported variations. Develop clear cueing, pacing, progressions, and transitions, then practice teaching the sequence aloud with options for different students.

Who takes the 50-hour training?
Students use this training to deepen their practice. Yoga teachers use it to introduce the hammock or revisit familiar cues. The 200-hour program includes this specialty for those also preparing to teach floor-based Hatha yoga.
Already teach aerial yoga?
Bring a pose you know, such as supported Warrior III. First keep the back toes on the mat and let the hands rest lightly on the fabric. Then try lifting the back leg just a few inches. Does the standing knee lock? Does the pelvis rotate or the grip tighten? Try the first variation again and compare where the student feels the work.
Use the same process to explore balance, functional movement, healthy aging, and cueing for students with hypermobility. Read Carmen’s Double Stag progressions or ask about training your studio team.
What happens when I finish my AIReal 50 training?
Upon completion, you receive an AIReal Yoga® 50-Hour Teacher Training Certificate of Completion from AIReal Yoga. This specialty training develops hammock-based teaching skills. If you’re working toward your foundational yoga teacher credential, the 200-hour program is the appropriate path.
